- VI: (V-I)
- n: An ancient UNIX text-editor known for
being decidedly un-userfriendly, but loved and admired by legions
around the world. However, experience and patience (lots of patience)
reveal the true power and flexibility
of the system and many use it as a full IDE.
Amazingly, VI has managed to remain relatively bloat-free.
These qualities have combined to make it the de-facto
standard UNIX editor (except at MIT, where they use the vastly
inferior EMACS). Many *NIX also ship with VIM (VI iMproved). - Jedi: (JED-i)
- n: The keepers of peace in the Star
Wars Universe, created by George Lucas, as well as the main protagonists
of the series. The Jedi are masters of “the force,” which is a
mythical field that binds all objects. Using “the force,” gives them
superhuman-strength, reflexes, and wisdom, among other things. - Vi Jedi: (V-I JED-i)
- 1. One who has attained mastery
of the arcane editor VI.
2. A neat sounding nick-name given to Tejus for reasons
long lost in the mists of time.
